Who?

Jorge Farah. That guy on the right. Hi.

I was born in 1987 in Barranquilla, Colombia. Currently living, with great difficulty, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. They may be in the same continent, but they’re very different places.

I like music. My favorite musicians are Elvis Costello, Tom Waits and Leonard Cohen; I guess I like to listen to old men in hats with strange voices. I’m also passionate about jazz, punk rock, indie rock and classical music, but I’m pretty open minded and will give anything a fair shot. I value melody over technical dexterity. I try not to discriminate against music genres but I’ve yet to hear a mathcore band that doesn’t totally suck. I listen to too many records and think about music too much. That’ll become very apparent in this blog.

I like movies a lot, too. In fact, I am something of a filmmaker myself, with many many scribbles and half-finished ideas littering my work area. My favorite director is François Truffaut, with Fellini and Tarkovsky and the Coen brothers close behind. My favorite screenwriter is, of course, the absolute genius that is Charlie Kaufman.

This “About” page was originally written in the third-person but fuck that.

I’ve been blogging for about 8 years. My original blog was a neon purple Xanga. It was terribly angsty. I’ve since moved on to a neon green Livejournal, where I still (still!) store my deepest, most personal and embarrassing thoughts (only some of which will spill over to this site). This particular blog has no set posting schedule; I will post an entry when time permits. If you dig what you read, you can sign up using the “Subscribe” tool on the right side of the page (right below my goofy picture) and you’ll be e-mailed a notification whenever I post content. If you’re feeling particularly social, I’d love it if you could leave a comment and/or share the entry with someone who you think might enjoy it.

This blog will be mostly about music, movies and the wonderful dance they do together; it will also often veer off into unrelated topics such as internet angst, half-remembered childhood anecdotes, unrequited love, alcohol, public transportation and the thrillingly cacophonous city I’ve chosen to live in. If I ever meet you in real life, I will probably also drunk-dial you within the first 3 months of our acquaintance.

I’m pretty tall. I like Batman and sharks. I don’t care if you think my hair is silly. I think yours is silly too. Jerk.

Hope I don´t bug you with this.
    Hasta luego!
